Project Summary
Problem Identified
In India, a vast majority of floods result from overburdened drainage, unregulated development, and mismanagement of dams and reservoirs. Disruption in communication is a major problem during floods, causing delays in rescue & relief operations, making it a matter of life and death for many. We explored how we could connect victims with first responders during floods without dependence on the existing network infrastructure.
Design Innovation
We propose an end-to-end emergency response service that creates a resilient communication network. Our innovation creates an ad-hoc network that connects civilians and first responders in real-time, so emergency services can be quickly deployed where needed.
Impact On The Society
Our solution has been developed to simplify and speed up the process of rescue and relief operations during floods. The application is designed to consume less power and data and can be extended and reused to respond to other natural & man-made disasters. It is lowcost, easy to implement, and can be extended to be used by governments & private organizations to set up disaster response networks
